Airport Way is a major gateway corridor within the City of Stockton and is in need of infrastructure improvements and services to accommodate the continuing growth in the project area. The Airport Way Corridor Improvements project focuses on the improvement of the aesthetics, pedestrian safety and pedestrian, bicycle, vehicular and public transit circulation along Airport Way between Charter Way and 10th Street. Improvements include re-aligning existing traffic lanes and curb lines to improve traffic lanes, add an eight foot wide sidewalk, landscape median and trees along the street. The gateway portion of the project will include decorative pavement, ADA accessible curb ramps and landscaping and will require demolition of existing median pavement and the installation of an irrigation system. Kjeldsen, Sinnock & Neudeck, Inc. (KSN), as the civil engineering firm for the project provided all civil engineering services required to prepare the civil plans and specifications for this project including, storm drainage modifications, median and street curbing, gutter and sidewalk construction, signage, striping and traffic control and modifications, extensions, relocations/replacements to existing utilities. KSN also provided existing utility research and mapping to identify potential conflicts within the project corridor and surveying and mapping services to provide topographic mapping of the project corridor. During the construction phase of the project, KSN provided construction support services including construction staking, review and analysis of Requests for Information and Change Orders, and preparation of punchlist.
