The Stanislaus County Animal Services Facility Design-Build Project constructed a new animal hospital and shelter to replace the existing over crowded facility constructed in the 1970’s.  The project is part of a commitment by Stanislaus County to increase pet adoptions and reduce the number of unwanted animals.  The new 33,000 square foot facility serves the animal control needs of the County and five surrounding municipalities.  The facility has space for approximately 550 animals, with one animal to be sheltered per cage, and will offer low-cost spay and neuter services.  Kjeldsen, Sinnock & Neudeck, Inc. (KSN) was the civil engineering consultant on the Diede Construction, Inc. design/build team.  KSN provided all civil engineering and surveying services for the project, including preparing grading, drainage, and utility plans; preparing the Storm Water Quality Control Plan; and providing construction phase support services.  KSN also provided the surveying and topographic mapping for the project.  Construction began in December 2009, and was completed in late 2010.
